What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response.
I think that honestly I would give my self a B, due to the fact that my group has worked well together and has almost completed the task for the due date on Friday. I think we have anylised that story of Cory Worthington had have shown how the media have portraded the story in an etically wrong way.
What could you do tonight that would improve your grade?
I would relook over both rubrics (individual and group) and check if My group and I ahve covered everything and check if we are doing the right thing to get our marks.
What grade do you think your team will give you for teamwork? Why?
I think my team/group will give me an A because I think that I have worked really well with me group nad that we all got on well with each other. I have also completed all the work they have assigned me before the date due.
Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”?
To receive an A I must responed to the issues concerning my group (store we chooes) and say any challenges that might we face and how we are able to solve this issue. So for Monday I must be prepaired to respond to these types of questions For me to reseive an A.

Fibre optic technology offers many advantages when used in medical applications.
a. describe how optical fibre may be used in medical applications
Optical fibers are used in medical procedures for example endoscope. Doctors and practitioners use optical fibers as cameras to easily and quickly explore certain problems. Optical fibers can also be used for communication applications. Optical fibers can transfer information using the law of internal refraction.
b. identify the traditional medical techniques that optical fibres might replace
One traditional medical method is the examination of the internal structure of the body. For example: if the doctor needs to examine the patients body internally to see if everything is alright he would organize for the patient to go to theatre for an investigation. With optical fibers the doctor can just use a optical fiber camera into and around the person body and instantly see what he needs to see.
Evaluate the benefits of fibre optic technology to medicine;
The benefits of Optical Fiber to medicine is of the following:
- It will be easier and safer for the doctor too look around the persons body.
- easy way to transfer infomration and data around the hospital efficiently
- Video conferencing when another specialist doctor is need urgently, will be smoother and easier to conduct.

How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?
I thing the media over exaggerates most of its portrays on any social justice issue that is being broadcast to the public. The fact is that they are just trying to get more peoples attention and make more money out of sell more news reports. This has gotten me worried due to the fact that people are absorbing it a beleive that it isall true.
-
Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?
It hasn’t been difficult finding an articles that has social justice issues because that is what news broadcaster usually make report of (things that affect our community and abroad).
-
Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.
I don’t think the media operates from a moral framework due to that they are kind of promoting these issues and don’t really think of how they are providing it to the public especially the younger generation.
Eg. Corey Worthington, Has a house party and later on gets all this publicity. Recently by going into the ‘Big Brother house’. This has given the people the idea that if I had a large house party, that I could get on TV and people will notice me for that.

What influences your values about issues relating to your life?
The things that shape and influence my values in life are the things and issues that happen in day to day life. This all include;
-
Media (television, Internet, radio, newspapers, news in general)
-
Environment
-
Family and Friends
-
School
Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?
I would say I’d sometime do it. It depends if I would really see its important for me to see if something is ethical or not and if its is right and follows the teachings of the bible but I don’t do this as often, then maybe I should.
Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not
This project has definitely challenged and change the way I see my values. So far it has taught me that the news is not always right and how they can influence things to just make the issues more appealing to the viewers. With this happening I first didn’t know that this would affect how I would see things and how it could change my perspective on current issues and images that I would came across in life.

1. Open and read the “How to write a critique” document in the resources menu.
Describe what is a critique.
Critique is when you have an article and after reading it you then find the main points/facts on the particular topic and write them down. This will then make it a brief and short story but it should give the story well if you do the critiquing right.
2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique.
-
The first stage when critiquing is to do a introduction - naming the article and its topic and any important facts you might need to name in the beginning.
-
Next is the summary - give a clear and consist summary of the original story (no more than 1/3 of the original). Don’t include your opinion in this section when critiquing. MUST BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS!
-
After that you can start to analysis the article for any strengths and weaknesses - You should follow the following criteria; Importance, Interpretation of data, Expert opinion, Consistency, Did you find errors of facts and interpretation?, What underlying assumptions does the author have?
-
Last is the evaluation - Figure out weather the article is of good or bad value. You can give a general comment and/or message on the topic (remember, can be either positive or negative or even both)
-
This section is optional, Conclution -summerise what you have talked about in full and give any last comments on the subject.
3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss.
Yes a critique can be positive. It all depends on the article and if that source of media has changed the story to either make it more interesting for the reader. Its positive if it is a original story and have good and reliable source and/or evidence. But also when you critique and when someone reads it, they won’t be getting the whole story, just the many parts, so it really won’t be as accurate as the original story would be.
4. Critique the accuracy of the following articles:

The Beijing Olympics:Are they a Trap?
News report from the Onion News Network. There are claims that Beijing Olympics is going to be a trap.
It is reported that China and the Beijing Olympics are just a giant trap and are going to take away Olympic athletes during the time of this event. It is said by this source that they have been preparing for the last 1000 years. Digging holes for athletes to fall into, training people in parks to become killing machines.
In this report on the Beijing Olympics, interpretedall wrong. They took the idea of the Chinese preparing for the Olympics to preparing to take over the people going there. For example, I quote, these Asian Chinese in their parks training to become killing machines. The whole story is basically a very big misunderstanding.
This article is just bad publicity to the upcoming Beijing Oylimpics. There is know point in this story, it just a comedic act.

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.
The two things that I have learnt this lesson are;
-
How easy it is to manipulate a certain story to change it in a way that affects you and how you would see the situation.
-
That it is really easy to believe something that could not be true.
